Klytie Pate Ceramics Award 2023

This exceptional exhibition celebrates the artistry and  craftsmanship of Australian ceramics, showcasing the works of talented artists from across Australia and New Zealand.

The Klytie Pate Ceramics Competition has long been recognised as a prestigious event in the artistic community, and this year was no exception.

         You and I are Earth by Pie Bolton

The Klytie Pate Award for Ceramics is a National prize, open to all ceramicists in Australia and New Zealand who are experienced in the craft, and the 2023 biennial prize of $10,000 was presented to Pie Bolton for her work You and I are Earth.


The Valentina De Maria Emerging Artists Award of $1,500 was won by recent graduate Mineko Shimazawa for Full Blossom.


Peoples’ Choice Award of $500 sponsored by Arts Mansfield was
presented to Fleur Schell for The Fringe as it receive the most ‘favourite’  votes in a free public ballot of exhibition visitors.

In addition the event judges, Melinda Martin CEO of SAM in Shepparton, Rachel Ardnt, Director of Wangaratta Gallery and Potter Susie McMeekin Highly Commended Alison Smiles’s Golden Eye 1&2, Ewer by Simone Fraser and Emerging artist Lea Durie’s First Aid Kit
